The forecast wasn’t a classic this morning, but we should know never to trust forecasts. It dawned hot and sunny … So, we headed off to catch the Cityhopper again, only to find that we had just missed one. Given they are every half an hour, we figured we might as well walk ahead of it and allow it to catch us up at some point. It never did catch us up, so we ended up walking round Kangaroo Point to the Maritime Museum. From there we crossed over the pedestrian bridge and headed through the botanic gardens. We finished the circuit on the Cityhopper again from Eagle Street Pier round to Dockside.
It was then time to get in the car again and drive north out of Brisbane to Flaxton. We were glad of having set up a Linkt account as, despite trying to avoid tolls, we ended up in the wrong lane and through the toll tunnel round the airport. This was only $6, but it was difficult to see it as money well spent when we just joined a queue again straight after the toll road. Still, perhaps we got to the queue quicker! From there it was a fairly easy drive up the M1 and then off on the Steve Irwin way past Australia Zoo (otherwise known as Steve Irwin Zoo) towards Flaxton.
Just before Flaxton we turned off to Kondalilla Falls National Park. The car park was busy, but then it was a Sunday and we soon realised why when we started walking to circuit to the falls. Above the falls are rockpools and the locals like to swim and sunbathe there. It almost looked appealing until it was pointed out to me that snakes can swim. That was enough to put a damper on a damping …. The walk was lovely and took around an hour.
From there onto Flaxton was just a few minutes through the very touristy town of Montville and though we managed to drive straight past Dene and David’s house, we realised quite quickly and turned round. Arriving there we were bowled over by the view. From the patio (and our room), you can see the view across to the Sunshine Coast and the sea. Beautiful …..
