We wandered the streets of Sydney today. For breakfast we headed back over to Chippendale and went to a cafe local to Fiona and she then took us round via Central Park to Darling Harbour. On the way, we went past the first building in Austrlia designed by the architect Frank Gehry. This building is for the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and the design has reflections of Gaudi in its curves and overall appearance. It is made of made of 320,000 custom designed bricks and has been described as the “squashed brown paper bag”.
From Darling Harbour Anne and I headed past the huge development taking place at Barangaroo and on to the reserve on the headland. From there we followed the harbour round to the Harbour Bridge and Circular Quay via the Rocks. Then on to the Opera House and through the Botanic Gardens to Mrs Macquaries Chair.
After a break in the Botanic Gardens we then made our way back to Park Street and the hotel.
