Heading to Hitra

The season is nearly done now, so, after dropping one of the crew for a flight from Kristiansund we headed off at 7am to drop the boat at its final destination for the winter – Hitra Marine. The first 5 hours or so, the wind stayed resolutely distant and then, when it did fill in, it filled in right on the nose. By this time we were heading up Ramsoyfjord and then through the rocks, so sailing against a headwind was really not even a possibility. This did, however, seem a fitting end to a season where we have had to spend a lot of time motoring!

Nevertheless, it was a beautiful trip and we found some space on the jetties at Hitra. With a nice calm evening, we then took the sails off and started preparing Amalia for coming out of the water. I will then take a couple of days sorting everything out before heading home.

Overall we have done 1,300 miles – mixed weather, but always through beautiful, often jaw-dropping scenery …..
