After another day’s enforced inactivity in Smögen (strong winds once again!), we finally headed north again today. After a really enjoyable few days of socialising, seaweed foraging, walking in the rain (ok that wasn’t quite so enjoyable!) and more socialising, it was a shame to move on, but we are heading towards Norway, so need to head north(ish).

We left just after 8.30 and got the main up straight away as soon as we left the harbour. We then motorsailed for a short time just to clear the islands and then pulled the genoa out. The wind was fairly light (about 8-10 knots) but the sea was still a little lumpier than that should have indicated – a hand-over from the strong winds of the day before. However, it was a lovely sail. We had a short interlude of about 40 minutes where we motorsailed again, but then managed to pull the staysail out and sailed the rest of the way. Just before the narrows at Havtensundet we turned the engine on and then picked up a buoy at Trossö just beyond the town. Overall, a lovely sail.

We then headed ashore for a bit of a walk, though without proper paths, that did prove a little challenging at times. We did though spot some mushrooms – subsequently identified as perhaps a poison pie. The clue was in the title with that one, so it didn’t end upon the dinner plate!
