Today the weather looked (marginally) better for sailing. The original plan had been to sail down to Marstrand for a look round. However, looking ahead, the forecast for the next couple of days is not great, so we decided to head straight up to Smögen to stay ahead of the weather. So, Greg, Patrick and Georgia came with me on the boat and Alex and Anne drove up to Smögen to meet us.
When I say that the weather looked better, that probably just applied to the wind. However, it was still a northerly and so was cold. We headed through Kyrkesund and then stopped at Mollösund to fill up with diesel. From there we managed to sail a little but had to motor again to get up to Gullholmen. I nipped into Gullholmen to show them the harbour and found Hekla in there, so we had a quick catch up. We then hoisted the main with one reef and the staysail and started heading up towards Smögen. Unfortunately, Smögen was in a northwesterly direction and the wind was northwesterly, so this meant tacking all the way and as the water became more open the swell built a little, which did lead to some greenness around the gills in a couple of cases and some serious relief when we arrived into the shelter of the island of Hållö. We finally arrived in Smögen at around 1745 after 36 miles of sailing.
