Arriving in Oz

Last night was sadly our last night in New Zealand. Our flight to Sydney is not until 4pm, so we spent the morning exploring around Christchurch. Despite the devastation wreaked by the earthquakes and aftershocks, this is a vibrant city which is re-building itself in an interesting and innovative way. We spent a lot of the morning wandering around the museum. It had a range of exhibits and an interesting section on Antarctica.

From there we wandered through the botanic gardens some more and also had a look round all the glasshouses. We headed back to the motel for lunchtime and then dropped the car back at the airport. The flight was a smooth one, though a little delayed due to strong westerly winds, but Fiona was there to meet us, so we headed back to Chippendale for a drink before she dropped us at our hotel near Hyde Park.
