The second of two travelling days today. Our flight to Honolulu was not until 5.10pm, so we spent the morning wandering around Kerrisdale, the local suburb closest to our B&B. A nice area, though some of the houses did look like they might go for a small fortune!
We had booked a taxi for 2.15pm and it was very prompt, getting us to the airport far too early. The flight was an Air Canada flight, but operated by Omni Air International – a company we had never heard of. However, it seems that even they have caught Ryanairitis as for a 6 hour international flight they seemed surprised we had turned up with a suitcase each and charged us $60 for the privilege of taking our bags with us …. Not sure what else were were going to do with them!
However, unusually, we did check into America on Canadian soil, so once we got to Honolulu we just walked straight out of the airport and onto a shuttle bus to Waikiki beach and the Equus hotel. Sods law, we were the very last people to be dropped off the bus, but the friendly bus driver did give us a running commentary about Waikiki as he dropped off people at all the other hotels.
