Today was the first of two travelling days. We set off around 9.45am from Ladysmith and Tony and Gwen kindly dropped us at the ferry terminal in Nanaimo. There was an extra ferry on this morning, so while we were aiming for the 11am ferry, we actually just managed to get on the 10.30am one with a couple of minutes to spare. The ferry ride wasn’t particularly exciting as the cloud had come down so far that we could hardly even see Bowen Island properly, but it was a nice easy run.
Once over, we caught the bus through to Downtown Vancouver. We queued initially for the express bus (267), but the queue was so long that one bus filled up and we switched to the slow bus or ‘scenic route’ – the 250. Actually, even though it was raining, this was a nice route following along the south shore of North Vancouver and then over the Lion’s Bridge and through Stanley Park. We got off in the centre, had a quick lunch and then caught the number 16 bus out to our B&B.
